DEVELOPMENT PHASE

I was born in Vila Nova de Famalicão, Portugal, in 1993. Early on, my interest in Sciences and Technologies shaped my academic path. In high school, I aspired to become a renewable energy engineer. During the ninth grade, I embarked on a self-taught journey with Photoshop, marking my first dive into the world of design.

Updating Phase

Later, at IPCA, I embraced my passion for design. The Graphic Design course broadened my horizons, exploring areas such as graphic design, web, branding, editorial, and 3D. This phase not only strengthened my technical knowledge but also defined my identity as a designer.

Operational Phase

In 2017, I joined Setuptech, where I made significant contributions to branding, web design, and motion graphics projects. At Brindes e Companhia in 2019, I furthered my knowledge by developing designs for products and promotional items. At Sketchpixel, I was responsible for the Design department, where I worked on projects in UI, UX, web design, branding, graphic design, and social media management. This was where I applied my experience to create impactful visual solutions across various design domains.

My Method

Challenge

It all starts with a deep dive into the specific challenge. Understanding the client's needs, the target audience, and the project's objectives is the starting point to create meaningful solutions.

Research

Thorough research is essential—gathering information, analyzing the competition, exploring design trends, and, if available, reviewing feedback from past projects. This phase serves as the foundation for all the decisions to come.

Ideas and Concepts

With the information at hand, the creative process comes to life. Exploring various ideas and concepts through sketches and prototyping forms the basis of this phase. The goal is to generate diverse options, testing what may or may not work. This is where imagination takes flight.

Development

Selecting the most promising idea is where the magic happens. Starting to work on the details, creating wireframes, mockups, and, when necessary, interactive prototypes. Refining the design, focusing on usability and aesthetics, until achieving the final result!

Review and Feedback

Presenting the project for internal reviews and, whenever possible, seeking feedback from the client or beta users. This stage is vital to identify improvements, correct flaws, and ensure that the design fully meets expectations.

Implementation

With the final approval, the design comes to life on the desired platform. During the launch, it's important to monitor relevant metrics and gather data for future improvements. This cycle concludes a phase, but design is a continuous process, always open to refinement.

F.A.Q.

Am I a designer or a programmer?

I'm primarily a designer, but I also have front-end knowledge and have developed some websites. I believe having a strong foundation in design is crucial for creating attractive and effective projects. Still, it's also essential to have technical knowledge to ensure the website functions correctly and is user-friendly.

What are my main skills?

My main skills include UI, UX, web design, branding. But I consider myself a "jack of all trades," something I inherited from my training. While specializing in Branding and Web development, I can also do video editing, motion graphics, front-end programming, and other soft skills like team guidance, project organization, task delegation, etc.

How do I stay updated with design trends and advancements?

I follow well-known blogs and sites like Behance, Muzli, Dribbble, as well as some influencers such as Aaron Draplin, Will Paterson, and Chris Do.

How do I collaborate with team members on projects?

Collaboration is crucial for any project's success. I prioritize open and effective communication, seek regular feedback, and am always open to ideas and suggestions. I believe that diverse perspectives contribute to richer outcomes.

What project am I most proud of?

Those I haven't done yet! Yes, I have projects I loved developing, and I enjoyed the final result, but I believe the best is yet to come. Each new project is a new opportunity to create something even better!

Will AI dominate design in the near future?

The truth is that it has the potential to transform the design industry (and not only that), making project creation more efficient. But there's no need to worry; it's not like this website was created by an AI. Right? Riiigghhttt? Human creativity will always have a special touch that machines can't replicate. At least, for now.

Where do I see myself in 5 years?

In the countryside, planting my food, with my wife and 3 kids... oh, wait, professionally... probably unemployed! But on a serious note, I don't know what the next 5 years hold, but I hope to continue designing, perhaps managing projects, and working with a complete team to create excellent design projects together! 😄
